The Boston Terrier Home Page
Boston terriers first originated in 1870 in Boston, Massachusetts and are a cross between an English bulldog and an English white terrier with a bit of French bulldog. The first breed recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1893, it was also one of a small number of breeds to have originated in the United States.
Boston terriers are toy dogs and can weigh from 6 to 12 pounds but average out to a weight of 8 pounds and stand anywhere from 8-12 inches at the shoulders. They are characteristically marked with white with a proportionate amount of black, brindle, seal or a combination of the three.
